Requirements
We are often asked what are the requirements for running Your Members, along with how hard is it to setup and run.
Server Requirements
Minimum Server Requirements
Your Server must be able to run the latest version of WordPress (from wordpress.org). Your Members is designed to be updated alongside WordPress and us always tested and designed to work with the current version. WordPress must be configured for a single site (Your Members does not support multisite)
To communicate with Third Parties including Coding Futures server you will need either CURL or FOpen enabled.
Your Members will not work with sites sitting on wordpress.com
Recommended Server Requirements
We recommend that all customers run a VPS or dedicated with 256MB and 500mHz dedicated resources per 2000 active users. With a 64bit OS running PHP, Web Server, time as 64 bit services.
We recommend running on a server that supports PHP5.3 or 5.4 or higher on either Apache or Nginx
To make full use of Your Members you should have an SSL certificate installed and setup, this should be a dedicated SSL certificate for your domain and not a shared certificate.
In addition Your Members communicates with many 3rd party services via SSL so OpenSSL/ModSSL or similar should be installed and CURL/Fopen configured to work with them, this is normally standard on most hosts.
If you are looking for hosting then we suggest looking at OVH or RackSpace.
What not to run
WordPress MultiSite – Your Members cannot work on children sites within Multi Site Network, Some users have reported success installing YM on the parent site. We recommend disabling Multi Site when using Your Members.
Caching plugins – While caching plugins are advantageous on a static WordPress site they were never designed with lots of users interacting with the site as such most caching plugins cause a range of issues and we recommend users not to run them where possible.
Older themes – Themes designed and not updated since WordPress 3 tend to have static calls to jQuery and other libraries which cause issues.
