The Professional Membership Plugin for WordPress

Your Members FAQ

Welcome to the Your Members FAQ section below is a set of questions that have been asked over the last 5 years.

The FAQ is split into several sections:

General / Pre Sales

What is Your Members?

Your Members is a WordPress plugin, that allows you to turn your site into a membership site or Paywall. It manages access control, payment and user management as well as advanced features like drip feeding. For a complete list of features see Your Members Features.

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies depending which packet you choose to purchase for more information see Your Members pricing.

How hard is it to install?

Your Members is a large plugin but comes with a full set of instructions on how to install but installs like a standard WordPress plugin. We also offer a install and configuration service for people who want peace of mind or simply want to get up and running as quickly as possible.

What is the minimum requirements for Your Members?

WordPress 3.3 or higher, MySQL 5+ and PHP 5.2 or higher these are the same requirements for the latest version of WordPress. If in doubt ask your host, please note Your Members will not work with WordPress.com or WordPress set to Multi site mode.

Does Your Members work with WordPress Multi Site/MU?

No. Unfortunately WordPress multi site uses a different user management system to the default WordPress and Your Members is not compatible. It will however work on the “Master” site.

Is there a demo or trial version available?

Your Members is a WordPress plugin and comes unencrypted as such it would be hard to offer a trial or live demo for your own site. However we do have a demo site if you wish to have a guided tour please email sales@codingfutures.co.uk

Licensing

What is a Single License?

A single license is valid for a single WordPress install on a single domain or sub-domain.

Can I have a development site?

With a Pro License we allow customers to set up a secondary site which is used for testing and development. This site must not take live transaction and be clearly a development site. We reserve the right to withdraw a license when we feel a site no longer is acting as a development site.

I wish to run more then 1 membership site which option is right for me?

If you are looking to run one or two sites then two separate Pro licenses should be suitable for more then 2 sites it is cheaper to purchase Ultimate.

Can I resell or White Label Your Members?

Yes we have reseller and whitelabel licenses available see Your Members and white labelling.

I am a third party developer looking to use Your Members on one or more project for clients which license is right for me?

You have three choices:

Your Members Ultimate license, will allow you to install on unlimited number of sites for each site the license is in your name and you are responsible for them.

Your Members Pro license, which is a single license for one live site, however the license also allows for a development site if you are not taking live payments through that site. You would need one license for each site if going down this route but its the ultimate flexibility and you can choose who owns which license at each purchase.

The final option is Reseller license, think of these as a wholesale license the minimum quantity purchase is 10 licenses. The advantage of reseller licensing is the license is then passed on to your client, and so they can come to us for additional support etc after you pass that license on. Also there is a range of options for white labeling and the more you buy the cheaper it gets.

So to summarise.

  • If its a single site and it’s a case of setting up a dev site first
then go with the Pro license.
  • If you plan on always managing the site but there might be more in the
future, have a look at the ultimate license.
  • If you believe you are going to sell a large quantity of sites then
    take a look at reselling.

Also you can upgrade to either Ultimate or talk to us about reselling
at any time

Payment / Security

Do I need an SSL certificate?

You do not need an SSL certificate to use the core features though we do recommend that you have an SSL certificate and your payment flow and login are done over HTTPs. You will need a SSL certificate to make use of iframe payment gateways/transparent redirect (Stripe, Braintree, PayPal Pro Hosted) and Facebook App Module. For More information see Your Members Security and SSL.

Do I need to be PCI-DSS compliant?

Your Members ships by default with “Hosted” payment gateways this means the collection of data is done on the payment gateway site and as such significantly lowers the scope for PCI-DSS. For more information please see Your Members and PCI-DSS compliance.

Do I need another WordPress E-commerce solution?

No Your Members handles payments for subscriptions, bundles and individual content and supports a wide range of payment gateways.

Does Your Members support PayPal Pro?

Sort of. Your Members supports PayPal Pro Hosted in iFrame mode. This version of PayPal Pro is available in only a limited number of countries and for certain merchants. We do not support the full version of PayPal Pro for reasons why please see Your Members and PayPal Pro. If you are in the US/UK/Canada you can make use of Stripe as an alternate processor for many other countries we recommend Braintree.

Theme/Plugin compatibility

Does Your Members Support my WordPress Theme

Your Members uses standard WordPress calls, widgets and shortcodes as such it should work with any theme designed to work with WordPress 3.0. However we cannot guarentee Your Members will work with a given theme.

Does Your Members work with OptimizePress?

Yes.

Does Your Members work with Thesis?

Yes.

Does Your Members work with my WordPress plugin?

Your Members uses standard WordPress calls, widgets and shortcodes as such it should work with most WordPress plugins, Your Members uses JQuery and JQueryUI and expects the latest version of these to be loaded. Some older plugins may conflict with Your Members causing Your Members JavaScript to not function properly such as “the all in one calendar” plugin. Your Members is not compatible with Magic Members which is based on older version Your Members.

Does Your Members work with Caching Plugins?

Most WordPress caching plugins were not designed to work with multiple logged in users or dynamic content on the front end, consequently they cause issues for Your Members we have general advice about caching plugins on our blog as well as an up to date forum thread for caching issues.

Does Your Members work with Security Plugins?

Many security plugins look for nefarious clients connecting to unusual URLs and this means in some cases Payment Gateways may have data they are posting to Your Members blocked by security plugins (this issue can also occur on proxy services like CloudFlare). In addition most security plugins are not expecting large number of users on site to be active as such the more sophisticated ones threat metrics can be biased.

Plugin X modifies registration will Your Members work with it

A couple of plugins provide additional data at registration, Your Members should not interfere with the running of these plugins however if you are using custom registration flows these additional data will not be present. This means that the plugins may not function correctly if they were expecting that data. Where possible we recommend you allow Your Members to register users.

Does Your Members work with BuddyPress?

Yes.

Does Your Members work with RoleManager?
