Drip Feeding

Often called ‘post delay’ or ‘sequential posts’, drip feeding makes it possible for you to create content at your own pace and deliver it to members over time. It also gives you the opportunity to continue marketing and selling your content well after you’ve published it because new users will receive content just like they would have if they’d been a member all the way along.

Here’s a typical scenario:

A user purchases a subscription with an associated Your Members account type. Content that is protected by the drip feed feature will not be available until x of days after he made the purchase. So, if he purchased his subscription on Monday, he might receive his first post right away, but the second one won’t come until Wednesday, and the third one, a video, will arrive next Wednesday.

Locate the edit window for the particular page or post you’d like to protect using the drip feed feature. Then, locate the YM box where you’ll find an additional dropdown area called “Post Delay”. Click the show/hide option here to reveal the post delay settings.

Once here, you can select the number of days you wish to delay the content for each account type. Simply save your changes, and you’re done.

Want to create an entire series? Just keep repeating this process on multiple posts, making sure the next post in the series is delayed for a specific period after the last. (Post #1 = 7 days, Post #2 = 14 days, Post #3 = 21 days, etc.)

Simple, but completely flexible.

How You Can Use Drip Feeding

Drip feeding is an excellent way to keep your site looking fresh and new, but that’s not all this feature is good for.

  • Two-Tier Membership — Offer a free membership option that has content drip fed over time, and offer up a paid membership that provides users with instant access. If they don’t want to wait, they have to pay. Simple.
  • Mail Manager and Auto Responders — Create an autoreponder series using Mail Manager to drip feed email content to your preferred mail provider. You can manage everything from Your Members, and spend less time setting everything up.
  • Simplify your site — Users can become quickly overwhelmed if you have a large amount of content, all flying at them at once. By drip feeding, you can make your site appear busy, while creating content when you have time and preventing the site from becoming too complicated for new users.
