The Professional Membership Plugin for WordPress

Your Responder User Guide

Your Responder is a system designed to send a sequence of emails at predetermined intervals to a group or groups of users (either WordPress groups such as blog commenters, subscription groups defined by the Your Members plugin or groups created by the plugin when using the Add YR Subscriber widget). It is ideal for sending multi-stage email campaigns and mass mailings and it even handles subscriptions and unsubscriptions for you. Plus unlike tools like AWeber it uses your WordPress installation’s own mail server, so you are not charged for each email you send.

The Plugin is very simple to configure and unless you chose to use the optional widget then it can all be done using the Your Responder menu on the left hand side of the WordPress admin page.

Start by taking a look at the Settings Page, whilst it should come with default values suitable for most users, it’s worth taking a second to check over the options available. These options will be used for every series of email you send.

Sending your first mass-email is easy. Simply select “Emails” from the Admin menu then “Create New Email”, then just fill in the name, subject and body and hit save. You can then use the “Send An Email” option on the Admin menu to select who to send it to and when (to allowed delayed emailing).

To queue up multiple emails, Simply create each email as you did in the previous step, select “Series” from the Admin menu, then “Create A New Series”. Once you have given it a name and description, click “0 Emails (Edit)” followed by “Add an Email to the Series” to add your emails into the series and define the posting delay between each one.

It’s that simple, but very effective.

The system can be extended further. The emails support the use of a number of shortcodes, including

[series_name] – The name of the Email Series
[blog_url] – The URL of your WordPress site
[address] – Your postal address (for CAN-SPAM) as configured on the settings page
[conf] – A subscription confirmation link
[unsubscribe] – An unsubscribe link

There are also two widgets for allowing people to sign up to mailing lists on your website.
